eUnleaded is an automotive spark-ignition engine fuel composed of a mixture of various components derived from crude oil. It is a blend of many hydrocarbons derived from the fractional distillation of crude petroleum and from complex refinery processes that increase either the amount or the quality of gasoline.

The ‘anti-knock’ characteristic of a gasoline blend is measured by its octane number. The octane number is the measure of the ignition quality of gasoline. The higher the octane number, the less susceptible is the gasoline to ‘knocking’. If the gasoline spontaneously ignites and detonates (i.e., explodes) before it is ignited by the spark plug, it causes an abnormal phenomenon known as knocking, pinging or spark knock.

eUnleaded has an octane number of 95.0 min RON and 85.0 min MON. The Research Octane Number (RON) is an indicator of the fuel’s anti- knock performance at lower engine speed and typical acceleration condition. Whereas the Motor Octane Number (MON) reflects the antiknock performance of fuel under high engine speed and higher load conditions.

UNLEADED FAQ’S

Q.

Can I mix the eUnleaded with the ePower Petrol?

A.

Yes. eUnleaded can be mixed with the ePower Petrol fuel.

Q.

How is gasoline performance determined?

A.

The performance of gasoline is determined by multiple factors, including its antiknock quality (also known as octane rating) and its volatility. Check your owner’s manual to see what octane rating is right for your vehicle.

Q.

What does antiknock mean?

A.

Antiknock, also known as octane rating, is a measure of the gasoline’s ability to resist knocking or pinging during combustion. The higher the octane rating, the greater the engine’s resistance to knock. Some of the problems associated with knock are overheating of critical engine parts – namely valves, pistons and spark plugs

Q.

What does volatility mean?

A.

Volatility refers to a series of characteristics that measure a fuel’s tendency to vaporize at a given temperature. Since gasoline must vaporize before mixing and burning with air, formulating fuel with the correct volatility is critical for achieving good drivability. E-unleaded fuel is carefully formulated on a seasonal basis to provide the correct vaporization characteristics for proper vehicle operation.
